Information We Collect
- Soap Solent does not require an account.
- Ian Moore does not collect or maintain a database of users, names, email addresses, precise locations, courses, or sailing activity.
Location and Sailing Data
With your permission, the app uses your device location, course, and speed to centre the map and provide sailing calculations. Course information, start-line positions, settings, and other sailing data are stored locally on your device.
Soap Solent does not send your boat location or locally stored sailing data to Ian Moore. You can withdraw location permission at any time in iOS Settings, although location-dependent features will no longer operate.
Maps and Tide Services
The app connects to external services to display maps, seamarks, and public tide information. These services receive ordinary technical information required to answer a network request, such as an IP address and the map area or resource requested. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.
- Apple MapKit supplies the base map.
- OpenSeaMap supplies optional seamark map tiles.
- Public Environment Agency and tide-information services supply tide observations and times.
- Soap Solent does not use third-party advertising or behavioural analytics SDKs.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions, free trials, and payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. The app receives verified transaction and entitlement information from Apple so it can determine whether full functionality should be available. Ian Moore does not receive your complete payment-card or Apple Account details.
Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's privacy policy and App Store terms.
Storage and Retention
Information stored by Soap Solent remains locally on your device until you delete it through the app, reset the relevant settings, or remove the app. Because Ian Moore does not receive this local information, there is no corresponding server record for us to retain or delete.
Children
Soap Solent is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when the app, its data sources, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest version.
